Africa's Big Seven - Luxury Expedition
(Duration · 8 DAYS)

Price: From $3495,00 - Valid 1 May 2005 till 30 September 2005

Experience Africa's Big Seven by embarking on UnrealDive's newest luxury expedition. This incredible value-for-money safari takes you on an African adventure hunting for the famous Big Five, witnessing whales in close proximity and diving with Great White Sharks - not to mention exploring some of South Africa's greatest tourist attractions - all the while staying in luxury accommodation.

Upon arrival at Port Elizabeth Airport you will be met by an UnrealDive representative who will transfer you directly to Shamwari Private Game Reserve.

Spend your days experiencing a ‘safari of a lifetime’. Game viewing is carried out from open vehicles, while trained rangers share their knowledge of the surrounding flora and fauna.

Start the day with an early morning game-drive before returning to your lodge for a hearty breakfast. The heat of the day is usually spent in the shade at leisure and enjoying a large buffet lunch. As the animals emerge from their midday siesta, you embark on an evening game-drive, where you may see elephants browsing, rhino drinking at a waterhole, or perhaps the shy bushbuck motionless in the dense bushveld. As evening approaches watch out for the eyes and then the forms of a variety of nocturnal animals as you search for game via a powerful hand-held light.

Back at your lodge, enjoy a drink in the bar with your ranger, amid cheerful recollections of the day's discoveries, followed either by another great meal expertly prepared by our chefs, or a barbecue next to a roaring fire.

After an early morning game-drive and breakfast, you will be transferred to Port Elizabeth Airport for your flight to Cape Town.

At Cape Town International Airport you will be met by your guide and taken to the Steenberg Hotel.

The afternoon is spent at Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens where you will enjoy a delicious lunch under the awesome backdrop of the famous Table Mountain.

In the evening dine on sumptuous traditional Cape cuisine.

Explore cosmopolitan Cape Town on a brief, guided city tour, which may include a visit up Table Mountain (weather permitting). The tour will move on to the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront, where you will be able to take part in your first dive with ragged tooth sharks, turtles and giant short-tail ray in the predator exhibit of the Two Oceans Aquarium.

This afternoon’s itinerary will be tailor-made according to your preferences. An afternoon of wine tasting at a few of South Africa’s finest wine cellars can be followed by a sundowner horse ride along one of Cape Town’s most beautiful beaches, or for the more adventurous, a tandem paraglide off Table Mountain.

After breakfast this morning you will be collected for your full day diving activities in False Bay. You will board the boat in Simons Town, which will make its way to Seal Island, situated just off the False Bay Coast. A dummy seal will be used to entice Great Whites to breach behind the boat. Look out for seals swimming alone as this will enable us to possibly see a natural predation on a Cape Fur Seal. We will then put the cage in the water, start to chum and you will have your chance to cage dive with the Great White.

After the boat returns to the harbour we will visit the penguin colony at Boulders Beach.

This morning you will be transferred to the very exclusive Grootbos Private Nature Reserve.

Let our expert guides introduce you to the wonders of the largest private fynbos garden in the world. Discover the fascinating relationships between the insects, birds, mammals and flowering plants of this diverse ecosystem. Take a meandering path through an ancient Milkwood forest, or visit one of the remnant Afro-montane forests on the reserve. Young and old can explore the spectacular surrounds on foot, by vehicle or from the saddle of a well-schooled pony.

Dine on sumptuous cuisine which includes freshly caught fish, fresh vegetables and succulent meats - enhanced with flavours from our flourishing herb garden. All meals are prepared with an innovative flair, presented with a touch of brilliance and colour, and served in a restaurant with unbeatable views.

After breakfast this morning you will be transferred to Gansbaai, from where we will depart by boat to one of the favourite sighting spots of the Great White Shark: Shark Alley. In the narrow channel between Geyser Rock and Dyer Island, large numbers of these sharks can usually be seen hunting the thousands of seals that live here.

You will be given a brief orientation on the day’s activities before moving down to the Harbour to meet your skipper and crew, who will offer you one of the most exhilarating days of your life!

Return to Grootbos in the late afternoon.
