Seal Island Express

Price: From U$ 210 Per Person

Off the coast of Simon’s Town in False Bay lies Seal Island, a sanctuary for the Cape fur seal, and thus an ideal hunting ground for the seal’s biggest predator, the Great White shark. Witness the natural predations of these massive creatures as they leap clean out of the water in chase of their prey. Sharks breaching is a spectacular sight to behold – one not easily forgotten. From April to September are the best months for experiencing these predations, as the seals are plentiful. During the winter months however, the Great White sharks disperse as they hunt for other prey.

UnrealDive can either meet you at the Simon’s Town harbour or we can arrange to have you picked up at your hotel. The day promises to give you Unreal Experience.
The boat leaves at dawn – don’t miss it.

Upon arrival at Simon’s Town harbour, you will be given a brief orientation of the day’s activities before the boat departs for Seal Island.

The expedition usually begins around 07h00 by chasing the seals to view the natural predations and breechings of the Great White sharks.

The Skipper will later begin ‘”chumming” and you will have the opportunity to view from the deck or to participate in a cage dive as the sharks make their appearance.
Once guests are satisfied, the boat will make its return to Simon’s Town harbour at about 13h30.

Lunch: Sandwiches and soft drinks on the boat
(For those being taken back to Cape Town, coffee, tea and soft drinks are available)

We can videograph your experience and give you the option to purchase the video/ DVD. Please note that if you would like to take advantage of this service, you need to advise when making your reservation.

The Great White Shark Season at Seal Island can be divided into three periods:

High season : April to September.
Low season : October to March.

During the high season the water temperature will be about 15C or 59F.
Visibility is usually 6 - 8 metres, but it can go up to 12 - 15 metres on a good day and down to 2-3 metres on a bad day. The visibility is better during the high season.
